Mariko Isozaki 1964 - 2013
Born in 1964 in Tokyo. Passed away in 2013.
Mariko Isozaki had been working between Italy and Japan. She studied at the National School of Ceramics in Faenza, and the stone carving studio in Carrara, and has carved out a unique world with her organic forms and colorful tones. Many of her works were inspired by forms found in the nature, such as fruits and seeds, and her style of spraying primary colors such as red, blue, and yellow on unglazed terra cotta is especially memorable. At the opening of the Oita Prefectural Museum of Art (2015), her work placed in the "AMANIWA - Roof Garden" attracted a great deal of attention.
