Chihiro Kabata 1978 -

Born in 1978 in Fukuoka. Raised in Tokyo.
Kabata is known for drawing irregular shapes and patterns with a black ballpoint pen on inkjet paper or other media. The delicate yet powerful movements of her ballpoint pen and its unique texture have made him popular overseas as well. She has held exhibitions in Singapore, China, Switzerland, and various other places so far. In addition to ballpoint pens, she also challenges some other media such as oil paintings drawn by fingers and hands, drawing of resin dripping onto mirrors, and continues to explore the possibility of not only broadening his range of expression but also creating space with her own vocabulary.

"House of Stream" 2022 , Echigo-Tsumari Art Triennale 2022

Using furniture that was left in the abandoned house, the artwork expresses Ichinosawa village. Lit from behind, shoji paper with a drawing of a flow pasted on the furniture brings the “flow” of the river in the darkroom with black walls. On the contrary, the upper floor is a bright space with a spreading range of mountains drawn with a transparent medium.
